About FlipFlop Shop
FlipFlopShop began with a desire to create employment in Mombasa, a coastal Kenyan city with most work options centered around the hotel industry.
As is the case countrywide, the number of people who want a job far outstrips the opportunities currently available. Most of our beaders were previously unemployed. Many are the main support of a child and sometimes a large extended family.
By acquiring beadwork skills, they are able to earn an income and begin meeting their goals for the future—many of them centered around education.
By buying from FlipFlopShop, you play an important part in fulfilling those goals by enabling us to pay a fair wage and extend employment opportunities to others.

FlipFlopShop is committed to leaving a light footprint environmentally. Whenever possible, we reuse packaging material, so don’t be surprised if some makes its way to you. This may not be as pretty as new material, but it is far better for our home the Earth. We are also pleased that our new black flipflops are produced from 50% post consumer recycled plastic—mostly plastic sheeting that has reached the end of its life in Kenya’s growing horticultural industry.
